BENFICA SPORTS HALL, LISBON

A Park with a Pavilion

The project aims to transform an abandoned area into an integrated urban park.

The current vegetation will be preserved and expanded, using predominantly native species to make the park greener. A suspended glass structure will house the central spaces of the sports pavilion and sports hall, providing a covered clearing surrounded by vegetation, with extensive views of the landscape.

A metal structure is proposed, suspended over a glass curtain wall, which houses the central spaces of the sports pavilion and sports hall. These spaces thus take on the role of a covered clearing among the vegetation, with wide-open visual fields in their entirety, extending under and over the landscape.
